Enhanced online correspondence services

Published: 20.02.2006

At the end of 2005 IPONZ extended its online correspondence service, meaning clients can now submit their correspondence for trade marks, patents and designs online.

The new services also include the ability to submit payments for correspondence possibly attracting fees, for example, "requests for certificates of commissioner".

This builds on our already successful online trade mark correspondence service released in January 2005.

You will need to be a registered user of the IPONZ website to access the online correspondence service. Once logged on you will notice the item "Online Correspondence" in the list of options in the left hand margin. In the 'Submit Online Correspondence" screen there are some simple steps to follow:

  • Enter a reference
  • Enter the IP number(s)
  • Identify the nature of the correspondence from a drop down list
  • Attach the document you wish to submit
  • Make payment if appropriate

You will receive an email within 30 minutes confirming the successful submission of correspondence. The new services make sending correspondence simple, timely and convenient.

An overview of the online correspondence service is available from the IPONZ website. If you require further information or would like training please feel free to contact Margaret Newton on +64 4 560 1618 or Margaret.Newton@iponz.govt.nz.
