Meet some of our team – trade marks

Published: 09.11.2006

As noted in our last issue, the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) has changed the formation of its Patent and Trade Mark Examination Groups, to better cater for staff development and high quality service delivery.

The teams now have Examiners, Senior Examiners and Principal Examiners. Last month we introduced you to some of our patent and design people, this month we’ll introduce some of our trade mark team.

Manager – Trade Marks
Theodore Doucas oversees the functions of the Trade Mark examination services team. He is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency in trade mark examination and maintaining a watchful eye on evolving policy and practice of trade marks in New Zealand and overseas.

Principal Trade Mark Examiners
Principal Trade Mark Examiners are responsible for dealing with high level examination matters and quality control.

Senior Trade Mark Examiners
Senior Trade Mark Examiners are responsible for dealing with complex examination correspondence and the work of up to five examiners.

Trade Mark Examiners
Trade mark examiners are responsible for examining trade mark applications.
