Proposed trade mark practice guideline amendment - broad specifications

Published: 04.12.2006

IPONZ has reviewed its practice on broad specifications in light of international best practice.

As a result, IPONZ proposes not to raise broad specification objections on goods or services which are part of the Class Headings of the Nice Classification and do not face similar objection overseas.

IPONZ proposes to re-release the Practice Guideline on Classification and Specifications and the accompanying General Annexure and the Annexure to Computer Services to take the amendments into account.

A full version of the proposed guidelines are available at www.iponz.govt.nz select “Information Library” | “02. Trade Marks” | “4 Proposed Practices” | “9. December 2006”.

Comments on this proposed practice are invited and should be sent to theodore.doucas@iponz.govt.nz by 20 December 2006.
