Energy Safety attended the New Zealand National Motorhome and Caravan Expo

Published: 12.03.2008

Energy Safety (ES) Technical Officers recently attended the New Zealand National Motorhome Caravan Expo held at Cloudland's Event Centre in Hamilton, from the 28 February to 2 March 2008.

The objective was to field enquiries from exhibitors and the public on mainly technical issues around gas and electricity requirements for caravans and RV installations.

Attending the Expo also enabled ES staff to do compliance audits of a number of caravans, RV's, appliances and accessories.  ES staff were pleased with the general level of compliance with the regulations and standards.

There were 150 exhibitors and around 50 sites dedicated to caravans, motorhomes and 5th wheel style Recreational Vehicles (RVs).  Other sites were marketing caravan parts and aftermarket accessories for both gas and electrical installations.

A particular topic of interest was 110 volt imported RV's and the requirements for energy safety compliance in New Zealand.  Technical information sheets were provided and details of the ES website was given for further information.
