China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) - Electrical product safety and electro magnetic compliance

Published: 13.05.2008

The Chinese Free Trade agreement signed by New Zealand last month will require some changes for Chinese manufacturers.

From 1 October 2008 regulations should be in place to ensure manufacturers can get certification within China that is:

  • recognised as equivalent to a New Zealand approval for a declared article (electrical safety); or
  • recognised as being compliant with New Zealand supplier declaration requirements (electrical safety and EMC).

Products with this certification will carry the China CCC compliance mark with an additional "NZ" subscript. Similar arrangements will apply to New Zealand products exported to China.
