Published: 11.02.2009

Energy Safety's ongoing compliance monitoring and enforcement programme is a mix of scheduled appliance auditing across the distribution chain and timely response to concerns raised by consumers and industry.

The objective of this activity is to achieve compliance outcomes that contribute towards the safety of consumers of electrical and gas appliances in New Zealand.

Energy Safety aims to visit 130 firms and audit 500 appliances each year.

For the 7 month period ending January 2009, 110 firms have been visited and 357 appliances have been audited.
